Isabelle Heard Bland Dry was born July 7, 1912. She received a scholarship from her high school in St. Louis in 1931 and received her A.B. from Radcliffe College in 1935. She was a teacher for fourteen years before marrying John Dry in 1948. She had a stepdaughter, Sarah Dry Hoyt, and a daughter, Marion Dry.
